Welcome to the Year 7 Ancient Greece blog. Each student in Mr. Turra's class has been invited to contribute and demonstrate their learning by contributing as an author to this blog.
1. In Athens the education was left up to the father. 2. The Greeks built the Temple of Apollo at Didyma, Turkey about 300 BC. 3. Alexander the great was the strongest person to live in greece. 4. Spartas navy was weaker than Athens navy.
1. Boys in Athens went to school from the age of 7-14. So your statement is false. http://www.woodlands-junior.kent.sch.uk/Homework/greece/schools.htm 2. False - the latest dated pieces of the temple are dated around the 8th Century BC. Well before 300BC. http://www.sacred-destinations.com/turkey/didyma 3. I could find nothing to either prove or disprove this statement. I would say false as I am sure there were men physically stronger than Alexander. If you ment was he the most powerful Greek ruler then I would say true as his empire was the largest of any Greek ruler. 4. True Athens had a much stronger Navy. http://www.historyworld.net/wrldhis/PlainTextHistories.asp?historyid=ac44
You have number 3 wrong. True - Plato was astudent of Socrates but he was also a philosopher in his own right. In the website you referenced it actually does say "The Athienian Philosopher Plato..."
